E-Fashion Tip of the Week - #112
When do accessories take away from instead of adding to your look?
Have you ever saw someone walking down the street or in a bank lineup and after they were out of sight have only remembered that amazing necklace, great bag or crazy hair style, but nothing else?
When you try to remember what clothes they were wearing, or a description of the person themselves - you find you have no idea?
This happened to me the other day at the Grand Opening of a store in Swift Current (which I can tell you is a remarkable new addition to the city of Swift Current)
I love to observe people, and as I walked through the store, noticed this person with a remarkable hairstyle. When I met up with one of the other people I was with - they also commented on the hairstyle and asked if I had seen it. Of course - I knew immediately which person they were referring to.
Then, realizing what I had done myself, and feeling rather silly, asked if they had noticed what the person was wearing. Neither of us could give any more details about the person aside from the fact that she was female, and what her hair was like.
Did she have a nice smile? Was she wearing a dress, slacks, bathing suit? Did she have glasses, how tall was she? We didn’t have a clue.
This was a huge case of the accessory (or in this case the hairstyle) overcoming the complete look.
When we are choosing bags, accessories or hairstyles, we should ‘try them on’ so to speak. You can have a great bag or necklace that compliments an outfit or the total look - but wear it with the wrong outfit, and it may be all that you see.
My Tip for you this week is:
Try on Your Accessories!!! That means - one last check in the mirror to see what the entire package looks like. If all you see is the necklace - exchange it for something more appropriate!!!
Or:
If you are a Bank Robber or in the witness protection program - go for the distraction!!
