Shalwar kameez is a highly popular dress with the Indian and Pakistan subcontinents, as it suits people of all ages and both genders. To make this outfit more suitable, some of the following tips would be useful.

· Irrespective of the person wearing it, a kameez makes a person look taller and so, should be a little longer in height.

· People with not- so- broad shoulders should wear kameez with ordinary sleeves and not the puffed variety.

· If there is excess fat in the mid region, the Shalwar kameez must be worn around the naval area to pull in the stomach. Also, tie strings on the side would help to reduce the look of the paunch.

· People, who are on the plump side, should avoid Shalwar made of materials like stiff cotton or organza and the like.

· Dark women must choose dark colors like red, blue, brown and maroon.

· Some people may be too fat to wear sleeveless and they can opt to wear sleeves with five inches length. This would give a thinner look to the person.

· Closed neckline is good for shorter people but does not suit those who have broad shoulders.

· The styles of Shalwar kameez is constantly changing, in accordance with the latest trend. For instance, loose fitting thighs were in vogue but short kurtas are the craze among people, now.

So, it is entirely up to the taste of the customer but some basic tips would help a long way in deciding the best suitable type of Salwar kameez to best suit the individual.
