We called last year’s color winner Turquoise.

Now we are going on record today, first day of a new year of a new decade - 1 January 2010 - declaring that Pink is the freshest, slamming-est, next best-est thing to arrive on the heels of a Blue Moon.

And we don’t mean Rock Star Pink or maybe-baby - pink, that is. As much as we adore her, and those powdery, angel-skin tones of baby, pale, pastel and blush, what we are forecasting is much more Pepto, more acid, more candy, more GaGa.

Shades of hot hot hot and shocking. Not neon - that’s too retro for this hottie, non-oughtie decade. We mean clear and hard pinks–like your great-aunt’s cheek rouge, a slash of screaming-Mimi.

Conjure a Sweet Tart or a Strawberry Fields Forever. Or just a big iced lolly in Raspberry Ice.

Looking over the New Year’s offerings on the beaches, Pink was already peeking out from the cabana.

Rihanna kicked off the trend earlier this holiday in Barbados in her pretty frilled number.

Now here comes LiLo, demoiselle terrible, lolling about on a boat in St Barths, looking as delicious as a guava in her pink bikini.

And only yesterday, in SoBe, Pink was so-being it there on the beaches.

Stacy Keibler proved the best dance was the last dance. In Miami last night she showed off her Dancing with the Stars physique in just the kind of pink we are yammering about.

Hayden Panetierre, newly single in this new year, and though covered by a white dress when zapped by the papps, had the pink string thing going on.

Earlier in the month, Miley was seen in candy floss pink with rainbow straps.

One thing’s for sure so far this year–Pink made a strong showing at the start on the beaches and in the Caribbean.

Let’s hope we see more of it in the months to come.

Let’s face it - for most of you, the weather outside is frightful, and you’re bundled up in furry, earthy tones like hibernating bears.

For 2010, Pink is the new delight!

Kikidoll is the eternal beachgirl, and takes her inspiration from the awesome elegance and pristine simplicity of beaches and waves everywhere. She muses on islands, oceans, beaches, shells, flowers, tropical living, travel, design and style, swimming, surfing, her beloved Hawaii nei, the spirit of aloha, iconic symbols and of course the fleeting ‘endless summer’. Most importantly, she frets over what to wear at the beach!
