There has been a lot of talk lately that woman often do not wear the right size bra for their body type. However, if you have been measured, and are still unable to find the perfect bra, follow these tips in order to help you.

Measuring for a bra

First of all, if possible, get a professional to do it as they are trained to do so, and know exactly what to measure. The following are how you determine your band and cup sizes:

Measure around the top of your ribs, where your bra finishes, then if it is under 33 inches, add five inches and if it is over 33 round up to the next even number, always round up to the next even number, this will be your band size

Then measure around the torso using the biggest part of your breast, in order to figure out the cup size

You will then subtract this last measurement with the band size; this will give you a number that determines your cup size

How to check if the bra really fits?

Because each bra is made differently, even if you have the measurements all figured out, not all bras will fit well on you. The following are what you should look for when trying on bras:

Your breast fit the cup completely

The band sits under the lower part of your shoulder blade

The piece of fabric between the cups lies flat on your breastbone

When you sit down, the bra should not sit away from your breast

The band in the back is not lifting, if so you may need to add length to the straps or get a bigger band size

Finding the best bra for your body

There is an easy way to find out if the bra is right for you; you should put on the bra, while not fastening it, lean forward and place your breasts in the cups, then stand up and shake a little to settle them in. Put on a shirt so you can see if it is flattering, giving you the great shape you are looking for.

Tips on what to look for in a bra:

Buy something that shape your breasts while moulding them

Try lifting your breasts by using a demi-cup bra

To make breasts look larger try a push up bra, a bra with padding or a bra with both

To make breast look smaller, try a minimizer

So remember, when you are shopping for a bra, one of the most important thing to do is to make sure it fits your body properly. It is imperative to keep in mind that although you have been measured by a professional, and know your size, not all bras are made the same, and not all bras will work for you. All that being said, always try a bra on before purchasing it as for the most part, they cannot be exchanged.
