Who says just because you’re pregnant you have to retire your designer jeans and be relegated to sweatpants? This is the modern age, and the expectant mothers of today don’t have to compromise style in the name of motherhood! These tips will help to guide you on your way to stylish expectancy.

Did you know that high-end designer jeans labels like True Religion, Chip & Pepper, 7 For All Mankind, and more, have special lines of maternity jeans? Well, they do!

Before you invest in a pair of designer “preggo” jeans, be sure to follow these handy guidelines:

Wait for the 2nd Trimester

You probably won’t need to adapt your wardrobe until the 2nd trimester. However, it is never a bad idea to shop a little bit ahead of time. It is not uncommon to experience a size-changing growth spurt in as little as three days during the 2nd trimester.

Lycra is Your Friend

Obviously, jeans with a certain amount of stretch to them are going to be much more accommodating to a woman carrying an unborn child. Luckily, the aforementioned designers of maternity jeans have already taken this into account, and you’ll actually probably have trouble finding a pair that don’t have a bit of stretch!

Save Some Money!

Certainly you don’t need to be reminded of the upcoming expenses associated with bringing a child into the world. Instead of shelling out $200 or so on a new pair of designer maternity jeans, why not check sites like eBay.com or outlet stores like Nordstrom Rack to find bargains?

Beg and Borrow

Chances are, if you have a friend or two that have had children, they had to buy maternity jeans at some point. And unless they happen to be pregnant again, those jeans are probably not being put to good use. It might sound obvious, but it’s never a bad idea to get in touch with friends and swap pants.
