Chrissie Morris is a one of a kind designer of the fashion world who has single-handedly turned around the way people view footwear. Although CM’s first collection was launched in the year of 2002 the brand was only formally registered in 2007. The brand is named after Chrissie Morris who is the designer behind it all. Chrissie began her career at a very young age and is, in fact, one of the few luminaries of the fashion world who has made it on her own. Chrissie, as history would have it, has been designing since the age of 14 when she was designing for a boutique called Pax. Later on in her life, specifically 2000, Chrissie gained a formal degree in fashion design from the John Moores University of Liverpool. This was followed by a specialist course at the Domus Academy located in one of the major fashion capitals of the world in Milan, Italy.

This is where the focus of Chrissie changed from designing clothes to designing footwear. The footwear designed by CM can be defined as an amalgamation of pragmatic British creativity and famed Italian craftsmanship. Chrissie’s aim, as per her comments in the media, are to preserve and maybe even promote the fading heritage of Italian footwear craftsmanship.

CM’s collections reveal her three founding pillars which are quality, craftsmanship and comfort. However, Chrissie’s work is much more than just these fundamental aspects. She tries to combine the lessons of the past and the requirements of the present to create collections that are not only innovative, stylish and comfortable but also culturally relevant. Alternatively, some collections from CM draw their inspiration from the very common concept of knitwear and sweaters that take into account an array of interlinking knit patterns. Furthermore, another quality of collections created by CM is that they imbibe a lot of their qualities from architectural concepts. For example, many pieces in CM’s collections depict the art deco architecture of Europe that incorporates the principle of simple geometric shapes into complex creations.

However, these unique ideas and principles do not take away from the feminine aspects of her creations which have been described by many as decadently womanly. As mentioned earlier, one of the truest goals of Chrissie Morris is to be the forerunner of the Italian craftsmanship which has seen a decline from the late renaissance period. This devotion to her real calling makes Chrissie Morris one of the more devoted and true to form designers in the fashion industry today.

Chrissie Morris has recently purchased a footwear manufacturing unit in Italy known as the Calzaturificio Righi. This means that Chrissie Morris now has two bases of operations with her headquarters being in London.

There was a time when footwear was only taken as a way to enhance the dresses and looks created by various designers or, in different words, as accessories. Chrissie Morris is all set to change this prevalent worldview of the fashionistas of the world by the sheer beauty of her collections.
