There is absolutely nothing unacceptable about purchasing second hand designer dresses especially during financially difficult times.

The fact of the matter is, the majority of pre-owned designer dresses for sale are usually very well taken care of or never worn at all.

Regardless of the socio-economic stature of a person, finding a good bargain on a brand name dress is always fashionable. Not only are you saving money but also obtaining a great bargain on a well designed and quality crafted piece of clothing at only a tiny fraction of the original cost. The question then arises of where to search for these hidden treasures.

The closest place is your neighbourhood garage or yard sales. It may be more difficult to find a particular dress you are looking for but nevertheless the opportunity to find them is there. If you live in a more affluent neighbourhood the chances become higher that you will have more exposure to different designer brands. The best types of these sales are actually estate sales which are conducted by a lawyer firm or financial institution of the deceased homeowner. As a result, you may be able to find much better bargains as they will not haggle over the price of the items that are being sold. Search for these in your local classifieds, newspapers and magazines.

Consignment stores have been long time suppliers of such items and they only accept clothes in excellent condition. A good number of times you will also be able to find dresses with the original sales tags still attached indicating that they have never been worn before. This is a huge bonus as you are basically buying a brand new designer dress at an incredibly deep discount. The best place to find these are local online or print directories.

Upper end luxury retailers may not carry pre-owned clothing but they do have incredible sales on high end names if you can catch them during their annual sales extravaganzas. This is usually at the end of the season where they are trying to unload their older items while the newer ones are being ushered in. Because fashion changes with the seasons you should be able to find these great sales on a much more frequent basis. The majority of these stores have email sign-ups so subscribe and keep up with the latest news.

Out of all of these places to find excellent deals on used designer dresses, the ultimate location is online auction sites and specialty retailers. Even though you will be able to find a lot of sales on second hand designer dresses from professional retailer sites they are often limited in their stock and brands due to licensing issues. This is where auction sites shine as they do not have these restrictions and are not limited to only one seller. They combine both professional and private sellers of pre-owned designer dresses which greatly increase the options and choices you have in purchasing the right piece for your ever expanding wardrobe.
