Do you own a lot of clothing, yet never have anything to wear? Are you constantly searching through drawer after drawer and pile after pile of clothing and women’s shapewear to find one good body slimmer, waist cincher, or biker short to make your “almost fits” pencil skirt look good on you?

Drawers that are stuffed to the brim with clothing can trick you into thinking you’ve got plenty of clothing to choose from. While you may own all of those clothes, chances are you have an overwhelming amount of clothing that doesn’t fit well, doesn’t look flattering and doesn’t boost your confidence and appearance when you wear it.

If this sounds like you, you’re not alone! However, it’s time to cut and slash your way through the endless piles of apparel in your largely mediocre (and maybe even useless - yes, I said it!) wardrobe and make room for bodyshapers and apparel you actually look great in.

Here are 9 simple signs and questions you need to ask in order to determine whether or not your lingerie body shapers and undergarments are past their prime.

Dull, dingy color. When bright white is slate gray, no number of washes will reverse this. Nor will any number of bleaching agents and color removers.

Unraveled elastic leaves it shapeless. When the elastic fibers of your waist bands and shapewear unravel and your garment loses shape, it’s pointless to use as it cannot hold your body firmly or effectively to give you the silhouette you desire.

Frayed and threadbare. Don’t keep anything that has been worn to the point of being frayed. This is clothing, not a teddy bear or your first born son’s hospital blanket.

Poking, distorted wires and sharp edges. I don’t care if was the sexiest bra you’ve ever purchased, if the underwire pops out toss it. Wiring and shapewear boning that has pushed past fabric barriers to stick and irritate you are not serving their purpose of keeping you in good shape.

Anything you haven’t worn in 6 months to one full year or more. The longer you’ve gone without wearing something, the less likely you are to pick it back up and begin wearing it again. Lay it to rest or donate it.

Ill-fitting shapewear. If it doesn’t fit anymore, whether too large or too small, it cannot do its job. Yes, as a woman your weight will fluctuate, but if you’re pregnant or waiting for those last 10 pounds before your shapewear fits, chances are you should simply toss it and wait to reward yourself with new shapewear.

Shapewear that never fit your body. We’ve all been guilty of purchasing things we were determined to make look good in spite of reality. However, reality rules and these products - no matter how beautiful - need to go.

Body slimmers that are uncomfortable. If your shapewear isn’t comfortable then you’ll only make yourself miserable when you wear it. Free yourself from the pain and irritation of uncomfortable shapewear and lingerie that digs, sticks, rides up and annoys you.

It’s “almost perfect” - but not quite. Almost is a six letter word that makes a big difference between foundational garments meant for you and those that are meant for the trash. As they say, “If you don’t love it, lose it!”

Clearing your clothing pile of unnecessary and worn items will clear your space and energy to receive new shapewear in better condition that makes you feel fabulous. Purchasing the right lingerie isn’t easy at first. Many women need a lingerie expert to help them pick out the right body slimmer and other body shaper undergarments for their needs. If you fall into this category, rest assured that after cleaning out your drawers and hooking up with a shapewear specialist you’ll look more fabulous than you have in years.
